biography

Vinh was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1972.

After emigrating to the United States when he was two years old, he spent his formative years in Southern California. It was there that he discovered his love for music and photography through his time experiencing the local indie and punk scene.

In 2003, Vinh packed his bags and left Southern California to pursue his dreams of travelling to Southeast Asia and rediscovering his roots. After touring through Indochina, Vinh was drawn to Cambodia and now bases himself there. As a six year resident of Phnom Penh, he has documented images for various local and international publications along with shooting commissions for development agencies and private companies.

In early 2009, he delved into the multimedia world and has been producing multimedia slideshows for various publications including the Phnom Penh Post along with NGO's.

He counts photographers Glen E. Friedman, James Natchwey and Jeff Curtes as his main sources of inspiration.

He also enjoys the occassional scrabble game and is obsessed with gadgets.
